JAA Posts Increases in Revenues and Operating Income

Jacksonville Aviation Authority today announced its unaudited financial results for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2016.

For Fiscal Year 2015-2016, JAA posted revenues of $79.6 million, a 6 percent increase over revenues of $75 million in the previous year.  Operating income jumped 11 percent to $30 million, from $27 million a year earlier.

Total enplanements for the FY 2015-2016 were 5.6 million, a 3 percent increase over the prior year.

“We are very pleased with these operating results,” said JAA CEO Steve Grossman. “With an improving aviation landscape, we have continued to aggressively market our wonderful assets, while holding the line on expenses.”

JAA also announced that Ross Jones has joined the authority as Director of Finance. He is replacing Diane Pinkerman, who is retiring.  Jones, a CPA, most recently served as Manager of Tax Reporting and Planning at Rayonier Advanced Materials.

JAA owns and operates Jacksonville International Airport, Cecil Airport, Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport and Herlong Airport.

Temporary TSA Precheck Enrollment Available at Jacksonville International Airport

Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) has announced that travelers can sign up for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Precheck program at Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) during a limited period this fall.

TSA Precheck allows individuals to travel securely and efficiently without having to remove items such as shoes, belts and light jackets or liquids and laptops from their luggage.

For a two-week period, passengers can make an appointment to enroll in TSA Precheck at a temporary office located in the JAX terminal, but must first begin the application process online.

Appointments can be made for the following dates and times:
October 24-28 – 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
October 31 – November 2 – 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
November 3-4 – 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Passengers are fully enrolled in Precheck only after they obtain a “Known Traveler Number” (KTN), which could take several days to receive.

“We are delighted to provide this convenient option to travelers coming through our airport,” said JAA CEO Steve Grossman. “TSA Precheck is a great way for passengers to ease the transition through security checkpoint when they travel to and from JAX.”

Jacksonville International Airport Recognized as Among Top Airports in the World for Excellent Customer Service

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority announced that Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) has been inducted into the Airports Council International (ACI) Director General’s Roll of Excellence for consistently delivering excellence in customer service. 

 The award recognizes airports worldwide that received high marks from passengers who participated in ACI’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Surveys.  

 The ACI ASQ Survey measures passengers’ appraisal of 34 key performance indicators on the day they travel, allowing airports to get an accurate picture of traveler sentiment. ASQ has been designed for airports of all sizes seeking to measure their passenger service performance and to benchmark it against other airports with the overarching objective of offering more effective, efficient and profitable ways to serve the flying public. 

 In addition to JAX, this year’s other inductees include: Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (Mauritius);Upington Airport (South Africa) and Wuhan Tianhe International Airport (China). 

 “This is a wonderful recognition for the excellent customer service our employees provide to the traveling public every day,” said JAA Chairman Ray Alfred.  “I would like to congratulate the JAA team for all their hard work.” 

 The ACI ASQ Survey, which has won universal recognition as the world-class benchmarking program, has grown steadily since its inception in 2006. It has reliably captured passengers’ immediate appraisals from transportation to the airport through departure at the gate at more than 300 airports worldwide. 

Cecil Airport Improvement Project Wins Top Honors from the Florida Department of Transportation

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority announced that Cecil Airport has won General Aviation Airport Project of the Year from the Florida Department of Transportation for development of the eastside of the airport. 

The purpose of the Eastside Roadway and Taxiway was to open up the east side of Cecil Airport to future development. The taxiway, designed for the largest aircraft anticipated to use the airport, extends 1,000 feet east and 3,000 feet north from the end of Runway 18L.

The roadway, located 1,500 feet east of the taxiway, extends 1,200 feet south from 103rd Street.  The roadway work also included extension of utilities.

The Eastside Roadway and Taxiway Project also included 150 acres of clearing between the two facilities for future development.

The total project cost for the taxiway was $4.1M, and was funded at 88 percent by the FAA, 6 percent by the FDOT and 6 percent by JAA. The roadway and clearing cost was approximately $3.8M, and was funded by FDOT at 41 percent and JAA at 59 percent.

Each year FDOT recognizes “superior” achievement in both General Aviation and Commercial Service airport projects by selecting the Airport Project of the Year in each category. Among the criteria for selection, the project has to contribute to the mobility of people and goods, contribute to the well-being of the community, demonstrate resourcefulness in planning, provide benefits to the physical environment and be cost effective. 

“This is wonderful recognition of the great work produced by our JAA staffers and our consultants and contractors,” said JAA CEO Steve Grossman.  “This project positions Cecil Airport for continued growth and job creation.”

Jacksonville-based engineering firm RS&H assisted JAA on the project.

This prestigious accomplishment is a testament to thededication to service excellence JAX has shown throughout 2015. The AirportService Quality Awards are the industry’s most celebrated, and are given toorganizations that prove to be most outstanding in passenger satisfaction.

The ASQ Survey is “the world’s benchmark of airportexcellence.” Last year the study consisted of 550,000 in-depth passengersurveys at over 300 airports spanning across more than 80 countries worldwide.

The award ceremony will be held during the Gala Dinner ofthe 11th Annual ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference and Exhibitionon Tuesday, April 19, 2016, in Gold Coast, Australia, where winners will showcasetheir accomplishments with the aviation community.

As the competition thickens every year and airports continueto grow in customer service excellence, it is nothing short of an outstandingachievement for the Jacksonville Aviation Authority and the Jacksonvillecommunity as a whole.
